About Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club
Perched high on the Derbyshire moorland just outside Buxton, this gliding club campsite occupies one of the most spectacularly positioned spots in the Peak District. The handful of grass and earth pitches—suitable for campervans—share the viewing area with gliders swooping overhead, and on clear days the panoramic views stretch for miles across wild, rolling terrain. It's genuinely remote and peaceful, with uneven ground that adds to the rough-and-ready charm.
On site there's a welcoming club house with bar and café serving food, plus proper facilities including showers and a washing-up area. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the setting feels genuinely wild without sacrificing basic comforts. Pitches start from around £25 a night. If you're after dramatic scenery and don't mind a bit of moorland mud underfoot, this tiny site delivers something truly special.

Absolutely amazing experience, gliding over the Peak District with some amazing views. My wife had surprised me with this for my birthday and the whole team were exceptional. Some early changes due to weather conditions they were clear and communicative throughout and rescheduled for another day. It was particularly Bridgett who my wife had been dealing with who was fantastically helpful. Also Gary the glider pilot and the launch team were very thorough through safety procedure's and wonderfully welcoming and friendly putting us all at ease. Would absolutely recommend and definitely be coming back again soon. Thank you all

Had an amazing morning at the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding Club for a 60th birthday present. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of having a glider experience. A huge thank you to Big Bob for explaining the workings of the glider, ensuring parachute correctly fitted and for being an excellent pilot. Thanks to all the other club members involved.

Absolutely brilliant experience, more fun than scary and I'm a little nervous of heights. The whole experience was made so much more enjoyable than expected due to the amazing staff team, the fun and friendly atmosphere and the good weather ( lastly). Pilot Paul was absolutely brilliant, such experience I felt completely at ease with him and had fun. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely loved my day here. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, and my pilot Garry was really knowledgeable, engaging and took the time to make sure the lesson was pitched at the right level for me. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be back!
