Tent camping and bunkhouse in Snowdonia, suited to people who want to escape and get back-to-basics. Quiet site.

About Pentre Bach

Tucked away just outside Caernarfon, Pentre Bach is a back-to-basics site that suits campers after a quiet escape in Snowdonia. You can pitch your tent and light a campfire under the stars, with dogs welcome to join you. There's a bunkhouse option too if you'd rather have four walls. Facilities are straightforward — showers, toilets, drinking water — but no WiFi or chemical disposal, so come prepared for a more off-grid feel.

It's a handy base for exploring Gwynedd's castles and coastline without the fuss of a larger, more regimented campsite. Families appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, though those wanting more creature comforts might find it a touch spartan.

Lovely cozy cottage (Y Llaethdy), train access was perfect for days at the beach. Hosts were super informative and helpful, but let you crack on. We had a great time!🙂

Beautiful group of cottages set back from the main road and fantastic sea views from the garden. We stopped in Y popty for a long weekend in May. Weather was a mixture of Hot and overcast days. The Cottage was well equipped. A few of the kitchen appliances looked a little tired but functional and the carpet on the stairs had signs of wear. Don't let this put you off. The cottage was lovely and full of character. The kids loved playing in the large garden, looking down to the sea and the occasional passing coastal train. Out of the long driveway is a lovely little village with pub and local shop for essentials. Follow road by the stream to either the train station or beach (some sandy sections between the rocks). We took advantage of the cheap train to Barmouth on the Saturday and stayed local for the remaining days on the beach or in the garden. Thanks to Miranda for our stay at the cottage. We hope to return again in the future.

Beautiful quiet location and comfortable accommodation with everthing we needed. Didn't have any children with us but there is a games room and big field for them. The pub is easy walking distance so is the train station saving a drive. Great base to do some hill walking without traveling or just relax.
