Cwmcarn Cottage

The Caerphilly valleys are hill-walking country, with Cwmcarn Forest Drive and Sirhowy Country Park within reach. Cwmcarn Cottage is a traditional terraced house that works well for families wanting to base themselves here for a few days of outdoor activity, or simply to unwind in a rural setting. The surrounding landscape—rolling hills, woodland and working farmland—gives a strong sense of place, and the area has the character of old mining communities, though the focus now is on the natural environment.

Inside, the cottage is practical rather than fancy. Downstairs has a living room with a wood burner, a dining room, kitchen with electric cooking and a dishwasher, and a shower room. Three bedrooms upstairs sleep up to five: a king and two singles. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi—are covered, and the wood burner's initial fuel is included. One dog stays free. A lawned front garden and enclosed rear garden with seating and children's play area give outdoor space; there is parking on site.

The cottage sits near shops, pubs and restaurants. A 12-minute walk reaches the train station; the motorway is 10 minutes by car. Smoking is not permitted. A travel cot is available.
