Grofftau Cottages - Awel Y Mynydd
Ceredigion
Photo: Google Maps
Awel Y Mynydd is a converted barn on a sheep farm in the rolling hills of Ceredigion. You arrive on the ground floor, where everything is gathered: a sitting room with woodburner and TV, a dining room, and a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Two bedrooms—one double, one twin—and a bathroom with roll-top bath and shower are also on this level. The stone and beam structure, slate flooring and bespoke oak kitchen give the place a considered finish.
Sleeping up to 4, the cottage suits families or two couples. Bed linen, towels, wifi and heating are included, along with initial logs for the fire. You can park two cars on site and access a shared bike store. The front patio opens onto views across the farm towards the Cambrian Mountains; at night the darkness here makes for good stargazing. The water supply comes from a natural spring on the property. No smoking indoors.
The village of Pontrhydfendigaid is close by with a shop and pubs. Tregaron, about 5 miles away, has restaurants, a Welsh tea room, and a gold centre, and hosts a walking festival. Strata Florida Abbey—the medieval Cistercian ruins founded in 1164—lies roughly a mile distant.
