This Grade II listed house dates from the 1750s and was once part of the Old Rectory estate. Three storeys of sandstone and brick reveal exposed beams, timbers and parquet flooring throughout—genuine period bones rather than pastiche. The whole place is yours alone, which matters when you're hosting a group of ten.
Four double bedrooms are spread across two floors (one has its own en-suite and separate staircase access from the kitchen). The family bathroom holds a freestanding clawfoot bath, walk-in shower and separate shower attachment. Downstairs, the kitchen centres on an Aga and gas hob, with a Belfast sink and room to cook properly. There's also a dining room, living room, conservatory, utility room and a sitting room on the top floor with a sofa bed and smart TV. Parking for three cars on site, plus room on the road. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. No smoking inside.
The Swan at Tarporley is nearby. You're in a village with cafés and restaurants within reach, but the enclosed garden and quiet location mean you can just as easily stay put. The 3 steps to the front entrance are worth noting if mobility is a consideration.
