Staff are amazing!! We had our wedding here at Craxton wood on the 20th of June this year (2026). Please don't listen to the negative reviews people will literally moan about anything now adays! Obviously Craxton wood is a very old building but this doesn't show in the hotel. Rooms, restaurant, spa, bar area, Craxton suite and grounds are kept to a very high standard. We had an amazing weekend spent here for our wedding. The food was amazing both day and evening food. The grounds were perfect for photos and our family and friends enjoying time outside. The Craxton suite where we had our wedding breakfast followed by evening reception was great decorated partially by staff and then rest by myself as I wanted a specific theme. (This was my choice to decorate myself, staff would have decorated for me if I had wanted) The staff who worked on the day were excellent there service was honestly amazing everyone was so helpful. A big thank you to Tommy who worked on the bar the evening of our reception so friendly and helpful all evening. And Faye who worked the breakfast shift the next day took special care of us and we were all seated together in a quiet area of the restaurant again nothing was too much trouble for her and she was so lovely. We weren't rushed at all even though we had the last booking for breakfast, we were told to take our time and enjoy the morning (after our wedding). We used the spa the morning after our wedding spa facilities were amazing and lots of treatments if you wanted them. My daughter's loved the pool very clean and showers were also clean, toiletries are provided and towels also. We can't wait to come back for our anniversary 😊

The hotel is in a lovely location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa treatments were fantastic and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. However, both the rooms and spa facilities felt very outdated, and there was noticeable mould in some areas. Unfortunately, the food was also very disappointing. With some refurbishment and improvements to the cleanliness and food, this could be a really lovely place to stay.

The swimming pool area looks a bit neglected. There was black mould on the walls, which didn’t give me much confidence about swimming in the pool. However, the sauna and steam room were very good. The massage was good and the facial was excellent. The staff were welcoming and made us feel comfortable throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the afternoon tea was very disappointing. We had to leave the spa in our robes and walk through to the hotel’s main reception and then into the conservatory, which spoiled the experience. The afternoon tea could easily have been brought over to the seating area near the café within the spa, which would have made much more sense. The sandwiches were poor value for money and lacked any style or presentation. On a positive note, the scone was warm, fresh, and enjoyable.

Rooms are very old and need updating. There is plaster pealing all over the hotel walls. Rooms are basic but clean. Food is way over priced for what it is nothing special. Cocktails are pre mixed so the price for them is not warranted. We stayed at the hotel for a birthday present and attended the spa, we had to leave the hotel as the spa was in a different building and for the money we payed it was lovely the staff are attentive and well knowledgeable. Down side was one of are party was plus size and the robes did not fit and the staff member when asked said they are actually large on her! Not the best feeling 😕
