Island Cottage

Mersea Island draws visitors for its working waterfront, seafood restaurants and quieter pace of coastal life. Island Cottage is a traditional fisherman's cottage that sits near the beach road, keeping much of its original character while fitted out for a straightforward modern stay. It sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with a bathroom on the ground floor, living room and kitchen arranged around a dining space.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine, so you can manage meals and laundry without fuss. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. Out back is a garden with furniture, and there's parking for one car on site. The cottage is non-smoking. Note that the internal stairs are steep and may be difficult for those with reduced mobility.

The village shops and restaurants are within walking distance, and the beach is close by. The Company Shed, known for oysters, is minutes away. A stay here suits couples, small families or anyone wanting a low-key seaside break without the distraction of facilities or entertainment laid on.
