Stokers Loft

Stokers Loft is a converted property in West Mersea, steps from the water's edge. It sleeps two in a double bedroom on the ground floor, with a bathroom containing a bath and shower. Upstairs is an open-plan living space with a separate kitchen area, a sofa bed, and a dining zone. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, so you can prepare proper meals. A washer-dryer is on site. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; gas central heating keeps you warm. One car can park on the property. No smoking indoors.

The location is the draw. The public hard for dinghies sits a few yards away, and the beach—sand and shingle—is immediate. The Company Shed and Oyster Bar restaurants are close by, along with local shops and pubs within walking distance. West Mersea sits on the easterly tip of the island, reached by the Strood causeway, which can flood briefly during high or spring tides. From here you can reach Colchester's castle and zoo nine miles away, or explore Dedham Vale and Constable country. A country club with golf and a health club is a short drive off. The area suits walkers, bird-watchers, swimmers and cyclists; one dog is welcome.
