Hollyhocks

Families and larger groups will find Hollyhocks works well for a week away. The cottage has three bedrooms sleeping seven across two floors, with two bathrooms to share the load. Downstairs there's a living room with a woodburner, dining room, and a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals. One bedroom on the ground floor contains both a double and a single bed; upstairs are two further doubles, one with its own ensuite shower. The enclosed garden is small but sunny, and useful if you're bringing a dog—one is welcome here.

The location matters more than the building. Within walking distance are a village shop stocking local produce, a butcher, bakery, and fishmonger; Rock Beach (where dogs can run year-round) is a mile and a half away, with rock pools at low tide. Polzeath attracts surfers and families alike, while Daymer Bay has calmer water. The South West Coast Path runs nearby for longer walks, and the estuary views across to Padstow are part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Practical essentials like wi-fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included; a shed holds wetsuits and surfboards if you want to make use of the water. Parking for two cars is on site. No smoking indoors.
