Little Polgrain Barns - Grain Store 2

Photo: A G-S

Portholland's sandy cove and the South West Coastal Path lie within easy walking distance of Little Polgrain Barns - Grain Store 2, a single-storey barn conversion on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty draws walkers year-round; flower-lined lanes branch into coastal scenery, and the hamlet itself carries hints of its smuggling past. Further afield, unspoilt beaches, working harbours, galleries and family-friendly pubs cluster around Saint Austell and beyond.

The property sleeps four across two bedrooms—a kingsize and bunks—each with its own ensuite shower room. Ground-floor living means no stairs; the open-plan space holds a wood-effect stove, 50-inch TV with a DVD collection, and board games. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher among other essentials. A south-facing courtyard with barbecue adjoins the property, while a shared garden (¾ acre, also south-facing) holds croquet, badminton and boules for summer use. On-site parking accommodates two cars, and one well-behaved dog stays free. WiFi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; the place stays warm in winter and cool in summer.

No smoking inside. Arrival is after 15:00, departure before 10:00.

We’ve just got back from a fantastic stay at Grain Store 2 and honestly couldn't recommend it more. The cottage is spacious with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. It’s also well-equipped (including washing machine, plenty of pegs and indoor and outdoor drying lines) so you won't be lacking a single thing while you're there. The setting is just gorgeous. It has lovely gardens full of birds and views of fields making it feel worlds away from the usual daily hustle. Plus, the location is spot-on. You're just a short walk from Portholland Beach, which was perfect for a paddle for the whole family. It’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge.
