Quince Cottage
Cornwall
The Roseland Peninsula curves into the sea between Gerrans Bay and the Fal estuary, a landscape of small villages, coastal paths and beaches that shift between busy and quiet depending on the tide and season. Quince Cottage sits on high ground overlooking this bay, part of a working countryside that slopes down towards Pendower Beach, which extends a mile at low tide. The cottage is within easy reach of Portscatho to the south and Veryan to the north, and Portloe's fishing harbour lies a little further along the coast.
The property sleeps four across two bedrooms: a kingsize on the first floor with views towards the bay, and a twin room with windows to front and rear. Downstairs there is a living and dining space with an open fire, a well-equipped kitchen for cooking proper meals, a conservatory looking out over the garden, and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The cottage has its own lawned garden with a patio, and parking for two cars on site. Essentials including electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are provided, and there is oil-fired central heating. One well-behaved pet is welcome. No smoking indoors.
A ten-minute walk takes you to Pendower Beach; Carne Beach lies beyond it, with the Nare Hotel visible on the cliff top. The A3078 between Tregony and St Mawes runs nearby, making the rest of the Roseland accessible by car, though many visitors spend their time between the beaches, the villages and the coastal paths without leaving the peninsula.
