Scrumpy Cottage started life as a cider house, and traces of that history remain woven into its fabric. An iron press sits in the garden, while upstairs in the lounge, a cider bottle is hidden within the ceiling—a quirk that adds character to this one-bedroom Cornish cottage. The building's past runs even deeper: an iron ring fixed to the bathroom wall once secured a farm bull when the cottage operated as a stable.
The layout is upside-down by modern standards. The ground floor holds the bedroom—a kingsize bed—and bathroom, while the living and kitchen areas occupy the first floor. This means the sitting room and kitchen-diner both look out toward the garden and the wider countryside beyond. The kitchen is equipped to cook proper meals rather than just heat things up. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. There is parking for two cars on site, and one well-behaved pet can stay free.
The cottage sits at the end of a quiet lane above Blisland, surrounded by Bodmin Moor's open moorland and tors. The village itself—with its green and pub—is five minutes away. From here, you can reach the Cornish coast and beaches within half an hour, or explore the fishing villages and walking country inland. No smoking indoors.
