The Caravan & Motorhome Club- Rachel’s Lodge

Photo: Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

Rachel's Lodge is a ground-floor holiday home on the Carnon Downs site, a 20-acre park just outside Truro. You enter into an open-plan living space where the kitchen, dining and seating areas flow together, giving a sense of space. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge-freezer; the living area includes a smart TV and electric woodburner. Three bedrooms accommodate six: a kingsize, a double and a bunk room. Two bathrooms serve the property—one with a bath and overhead shower, the other a separate cubicle shower room.

Electricity, gas, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included. Two cars can park at the lodge itself. The site has 20 acres of landscaped grounds to walk through, a children's play area, laundry facilities and a café with wine bar at reception. From here you can walk to the River Fal and the creek, or reach the hamlets of Penpol and Devoran on foot. The Bissoe Trail and Camel Trail are accessible for cycling; Truro city centre is 3 miles away for shopping and eating. Beaches, coves and water sports lie within easy reach, and attractions like the Eden Project at St Austell, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth and the region's famous gardens are all day-trip distance. No smoking is permitted in the lodge.

Lovely site but not much going on at the club house at the weekend would of liked some food carts as you have in the week. The staff were friendly but not many people using the bar maybe do happy hour like other site do between 6 and 7pm. Im disabled so maybe a bench on the grass by the bus stop would be a wonderful addition to this site as the busses to that stop means a long wait.

We have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed even when it rains. This year was different we broke down 75 miles from Carnon and called the manager Will who gave us a number of Mark who immediately came out to us and towed our caravan to Carnon while the RAC sorted our vehicle. Wills knowledge and connections saved our holiday at this beautiful site which we feel is by far the best in Cornwall. Thank you again

A lovely site with very large pitches and plenty of space. The grounds are very well maintained. It is in a good location with easy access to all of Cornwall. In our view the facilities on site have deteriorated since being taken over by the Caravan Club. We were in the yellow field. The showers and toilets block are in need of refurbishment or at the very least, a deep clean. The showers were quite grubby. The radiators were rusty. Some of the toilets did not flush well. The velux windows were permanently slightly ajar ((presumably for ventilation) but this resulted in lots of leaves in the showers and sinks. This was always our go-to site for early or late season, but we were disappointed this year, and have never seen it so quiet. The facilities are really convenient, and were well heated but are not up to the usual Caravan Club standards.

A very good camping site for caravans and motorhomes. The showers and toilets are exceptionally clean and are many around the site. Dog walks are very good. The reception and bar area are also very good. A very nice site and I highly recommend it.
