The Farmhouse

Photo: The Farmhouse Fowey

This substantial farmhouse dates back generations and retains the character of a working Cornish holding. It sits within its own grounds midway between the north and south coasts, putting you within reach of both the dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches of the north, and the sheltered estuaries and hidden coves to the south. Nine miles from the sea, it's far enough inland to feel properly rural, yet close enough for a day trip to the water.

Six bedrooms across two floors accommodate up to 12 guests—two with ensuite showers and zip-and-link beds that can split into singles, four further doubles and twin rooms, plus a family bathroom with a roll-top tub. Downstairs spreads across three reception rooms and a kitchen-diner fitted with a full-sized range cooker, dishwasher and all the basics for self-catering. Bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are provided. A hot tub sits in the private garden; there's a children's play area on the shared grounds, and ample car parking. The property is not suitable for smoking. Note that the garden contains steps and an unfenced drop.

The Farmhouse works well for extended family gatherings, milestone celebrations, or groups of friends wanting somewhere spacious to base themselves. Fowey and its estuary are to the south, the north coast breaks and walking trails to the north.

We’ve had a lovely week here at Trenant Lodge. Lovely location very quiet and relaxed environment. Some great walks to the beach and a lovely secure garden for the dog! We didn’t take the dog in the end but we did notice how dog friendly they are! The owners are very approachable and will respond to anything you need! Kids slept well in the bunk beds! Always a bonus! My only criticism would be the mattress in the main bedroom was way too soft HOWEVER, this is personal choice and you can’t please everyone 😉!

We’ve had a great week at Trennant Lodge. It is attached to the main house, where the owners live, but we felt that we had complete privacy. It was quite basic but the dining area and lounge were comfortable… Now TV was welcome. Phone Signal was intermittent so it was great to have such good wifi. Kitchen reasonably well equipped. We were there as a couple and had enough space, although we used both bedrooms for clothes… hanging in main bedroom (plenty of hangers which is good!) and the chest of drawers in the bunk room. Nice sunny garden, not secure though so if you have a dog, remember your long line! It is walking distance to Fowey along the Saints Way but it is a 35-45 minute walk. It’s 20-30 mins walk to Polkerris, Menabilly and Readymoney beaches. Polkerris isn’t dog friendly. The other 2 are except between 1st July-30 Sept. There are some really lovely pubs, bars and restaurants, some take bookings which would be recommended as the season gets busier. We got the ferry across to Polruan which was easy and worth doing, including the Hall Walk. They run every 15 mins. If you want the ferry to Mevagissey (4 per day), you need to be there an hour before to guarantee getting on. You can not pre-book. Had a lovely week in Cornwall and Trennant Lodge was really good for us… thank you Mike & Libby.
