The Green House
Cornwall

The Green House sits on working farmland between Penzance and Land's End, in an area of moorland and coastal paths. Walking distance reaches Iron Age settlements including Carn Euny with its underground fougou, and Chapel Carn Brae with views towards the Isles of Scilly. Beaches are within driving distance, and the dramatic landscape—smuggler history and all—has featured in television dramas. One dog is welcome at no extra cost.
Everything is on the ground floor: an open-plan living and dining space with a well-equipped kitchen (electric oven, induction hob, microwave, washer-dryer), a double bedroom with patio doors onto the garden, and two shower rooms. Bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are included. A front garden with seating overlooks the fields, and there is parking for one car directly outside. The property has its own water supply via borehole.
This suits couples seeking a quiet base for exploring the far west, whether to walk the moors, fish locally, or simply sit outside to watch the sunsets and night sky. No smoking indoors.

We stumbled upon The Greenhouse by chance while we were travelling in Cornwall. We were fortunate to get a table at the last minute. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and standard of food and presentation. It’s truly a hidden gem! The small team of Neil and Leonie were extremely accommodating of our dietary restrictions. They were so considerate and went the extra mile to make sure we had a delicious dinner! Loved the cured salmon! Would always visit if we were around in the area! ♥️

A chance find via a Google recce before starting out holiday. It absolutely deserves its 4.9 rating. It’s outstanding! It’s a small two person, 20 cover restaurant in a village. It has a limited, but changing menu based on local produce and ingredients. Menu for each weekend on their website. We chose the scallops and soufflé for starters. The theee scallops baked in their shells have a café de Paris (slightly spicy, curry) butter. Ask for a spoon and extra bread to leave nothing behind. The souffle was haddock and Gruyère in a spinach sauce with Parmesan crisp. Both brilliant. Mains monkfish and lamb. Monkfish had peas and beans in a cider veloutée plus veg. Lamb included black garlic, grilled veg and carrot purée plus some subtle gentle spiced aubergines. Boiled, buttered new potatoes on the side for both dishes. Not sure I’m doing the menu full justice, but you get the idea. Beautiful presentation. Great wine choices also. Dessert choice was epic also but we were full. Lovely evening. Can’t recommend highly enough. Fine dining! 6 stars 🌟
