What visitors say

Adrian Denman

Spent a fantastic few hours at Winkworth Arboretum.Chose to follow the 3.7 km suggested route which was well signposted and with the help of the provided map was easy to follow. There were two other shorter suggested routes. Most of the paths were well made but a few on this route round the extremities of the estate were a little uneven. There were some fantastic views on every step of the route and so much to see even in February. Stopped for a bite to eat in the Cafe where although there was potentially a good selection of food and drinks they were experiencing a few problems with the hot food on the day. That said we can't wait to return again in the Spring and the Summer to see the bluebells and trees in full leaf by which time the new visitor center and cafe will be open.

Amazing place and a nice, mixed grade selection of walks to follow. Perfect timing for our visit - the bluebells were stunning. Rhododendrons just coming out, loads of azaleas already out and the tail end of the magnolias. The cafe is fantastic - really good soup and pasties. Currently all seating is outdoor, so be prepared. The new visitor centre looks stunning, so hopefully open by the Summer. As always, the staff are lovely and very helpful. Great place for a day out.

It's very very beautiful and pleasant park, we visited in first week of April, we saw Magnolia + Cherry blossom trees and under that blue bells flowers are complete beautiful, and variety of trees. It was sunny day and perfect day. It's a really big park with the lake and you can spot big fishes from the lake cabin, and tall pine trees around. Lots of parking spaces in overflow area, cafe area may be crowded but the park/arboretum is quite big. Looks like the car park is making improvement at that time. Definitely recommend to visit if you love the nature, park and peaceful.

A lovely peaceful place (even with the car park three quarters full) to walk, look, rest and contemplate. The Winkworth trail is the longest and best trail to follow, but be aware, for those of a certain age or with mobility impairment, some of the trail is steep and for those with vertigo, the trail at the far end of the lake may not be for you, with some narrow sections with very steep unguard drop to one side.
