Very remote... But perfect for Rocco and I. Fire is lovely, and required if you want the radiators to come on. Freezer and fridge was great for us, although we had to turn them on when we arrived (so the frozens were in the coolbox for an extra hour or so) Lovely walk to Stanley Ghyll waterfall.. just watch out for the sheep.... I know Rocco did

Have stayed here many times. Delightful accommodation amid spectacular scenery. Walking down to Boot for lunch in one of the excellent pubs, via Stanley's Ghyll waterfall, is always a highlight.

Just had the most amazing stay in Birkerthwaite Cottage and Farmhouse, its remote location and stunning scenery really so special. Great walks straight from the front door down to Boot (a couple of great pubs there to recharge for the walk back), or over to Devoke Water for stunning views or Lingcove Bridge and waterfalls for more stunning views And a longer hike!. The Cottage is wonderful, equipped with everything you need. Farmhouse has the accommodation and wonderful open fire, large dining room which was great for getting together in the evening after making use of the wonderful Aga in the farmhouse kitchen. A fantastic place to take all the family to recharge batteries, we will return!

Absolutely stunning location for much of the lakes. Charming, character cottage in peaceful surroundings. Although very comfortable, cottage could do with some upgrades in terms of decoration & kitchen utensils. Unfortunately the cleaning arrangements let the owners down for the duration of our stay.
