About Fisherground Campsite
Tucked near Holmrook in the western Lake District, Fisherground Campsite is a well-kept base for families and hikers exploring Cumbria's quieter corners. The facilities are spotlessly maintained – showers, toilets and a drying room all get consistent praise – and there's a rafting lake and playground to keep children entertained between walks. Helpful, friendly staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, and with campfires allowed and dogs welcome, it feels refreshingly traditional.
Electric hook-ups are available for those who want them, though there's no WiFi, so expect a proper digital detox. It's a solid, no-frills site that does the basics very well, making it a great launch pad for the fells and valleys nearby.

What visitors say
We had our 2nd stay at Fisherground last week and loved it. The campsite is perfect for families with lots of space, a brilliant playground, a rafting lake with shallow water, a stream and some rocks to climb on. The facilities were always clean and we never had to wait for a toilet or shower, even in busy half term. Beautiful scenery all around, gorgeous walks right from the campsite, and helpful staff. We love it here and will be back next year!

Sadly not one for us but I can see the appeal for families, just make sure you bring plenty of £ coins for a lukewarm shower. Lovely location but the endless rules were just humorous to us in the end, some seemed enforced like, lights out, others were not and we were woken by noisy campers multiple times during 'quiet hours'. You are paying for location and there's other sites in the valley which may be better value.

We stayed at Fisherground Campsite for 4 days, and it was a wonderful experience. The place was well-maintained, with clean facilities such as showers, toilets, a laundry room, and a drying room. The whole environment was tidy, well-managed, and supported by lovely, helpful staff. In particular, Genevieve was exceptionally kind-hearted and helpful. She assisted us with almost everything we needed, and I truly hope she achieves all her dreams. The campsite also has a safe playground for children, so they can enjoy themselves during the stay. I would definitely recommend this place to visitors, and I will gladly return in the future.
