Kirkeway

Cumberland

View on Google Maps

Kirkeway is a Victorian terraced cottage built into the fabric of Allonby, a quiet village on the Solway Firth with cobbled streets and a maritime heritage stretching back to its days as a smuggling and fishing hub. The building sits so close to the beach that the sand is barely a minute's walk away, with no roads to cross. The village itself has a handful of pubs and restaurants, though the kitchen is fully equipped if you'd rather cook.

Inside, two bedrooms on the first floor—one with a king bed, one with a double—overlook the front. Downstairs, a living room with a wood-burning stove opens onto an open-plan kitchen and dining area with electric hob and oven, dishwasher and washing machine. The shower room is upstairs. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One pet stays free. There is on-road parking and an enclosed patio with garden furniture.

The cottage works for couples or families of up to four. The beach is the main draw—a long stretch of sand to explore, though Hadrian's Wall is also within reach for a day out. No smoking indoors.
