About Old Kiln Farm

If you live for long walks on the beach – perhaps accompanied by your four-legged companion, and maybe at sunset (which can be pretty spectacular along this stretch of the Solway Coast, a designated National Landscape) – Old Kiln Farm might well be the place for you. This peaceful, family-friendly site sits on a working farm about 100 metres from Allonby Beach, with far-reaching views over dramatic intertidal flats and sand dunes to the west, mossy lowlands and Skiddaw Mountain to the east, and the Scottish coastline to the north.

The coastal village of Allonby is less than five minutes' drive away (20 minutes on foot), offering a convenience store, ice-cream parlour, chippy and a couple of pubs. There's also bike hire if you fancy pedalling to Silloth along the promenade – keep your eyes peeled for porpoises offshore. Back at this tiny site, fire up the barbecue or campfire (firepits provided, bring your own wood) beneath big Cumbrian skies. Amenities include a communal kitchen with gas burners and a toilet block with showers, though the facilities can feel a touch basic for some tastes.

This is a great place to stay, it is a well maintained site which is peaceful and quiet. The walks nearby are lovely along the beach (which is only 100 meters away). The pubs and restaurants are roughly a 20 minute walk. Well done to all the staff keep up the good work.

Absolutely fantastic owners/hosts. Location is perfect right next to the beach. The view from the tent of the sea and coastline was perfect. Shame we had a tad cloud otherwise the sun setting over the sea would of been icing on the cake. All amenities where clean. Just a fabulous site on the beautiful solway coast. Thank you Vera and family 🫶
