Oak Cottage

The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty draws walkers and nature enthusiasts year-round, with red squirrels, woodpeckers and pheasants common in the gardens here. Oak Cottage sits on a private 48-acre estate near Castle Carrock, a mile's walk from a country pub, with Brampton's market town amenities four miles away. From this base you can explore Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, and the quieter villages between Cumbria and Northumberland.

The cottage is a single ground-floor space: open-plan living and dining area with a woodburner, kitchen with electric cooking and a dishwasher, bedroom with a super king bed, and an ensuite shower room. Everything is compact but complete—you have a TV and sound system, heating, hot water, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Outside, a private hot tub for two overlooks the grounds, and there's a courtyard with garden furniture and a barbecue. One parking space is provided; no smoking inside.

On arrival you'll find fresh flowers, local coffee and home-made cake. A complimentary pass gives you access to a private swimming pool in Brampton, though booking ahead is essential. The cottage sleeps two only.
