About Durham Ox Ilkeston
The Durham Ox Ilkeston occupies a building with real period character on Durham Street in Derby, blending old-fashioned charm with the comforts guests expect today. It's an adults-only property, which gives the place a quieter, more grown-up feel throughout, from the bar to the bedrooms.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in-room, free WiFi and the reassurance of 24-hour reception, and breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. The restaurant is very much part of the property's identity, with a kitchen turning out food that's earned a strong local reputation, particularly the Sunday roast, tapas plates and desserts, all served by staff regularly praised for being attentive and welcoming. There's also a bar on site and a garden for warmer days.
Beyond the doors, guests will find further pubs, bars, restaurants and eateries nearby, along with golf, fishing and entertainment options in the surrounding area, and airport parking or transfer arrangements can be organised for those travelling further afield. It's a solid base for a relaxed stay in Derby with dining as much a focus as the rooms themselves.

What guests say
Went for the Sunday roast on our first visit to the Durham Ox. Service was attentive without being overbearing and we had the right amount of time to enjoy the lively ambience of the pub after ordering. We went for the three meat roast, roast chicken and deep fried ice cream. All the meats were fresh, cooked well and delicious. The vegetables were each cooked well and tasted amazing and our side of cauliflower cheese was fresh and a great compliment to our meal. Dessert was absolutely outstanding. When we paid we had a conversation with someone who I think was the manager and they clearly care about customers’ experiences and views. We will definitely be returning soon.
