Matlock and the Derbyshire Dales sit among rolling countryside where stone villages cluster along river valleys and moorland rises beyond. The Stables at Riber Hall occupies a converted barn and coach house in this landscape, positioned near Riber Hall itself. It's a substantial property designed for groups: ten bedrooms and ten en-suite bathrooms arranged across three floors, sleeping 24 people in total, with the whole place to yourselves.

The layout spreads across lower ground, ground and first floors, with two separate living rooms (one with a 60-inch TV, one with a 50-inch), two kitchens, and a sun room. Most bedrooms have four-poster doubles; some have an additional single bed. Essentials like bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are included. The property has an enclosed half-acre garden, on-site parking, and an electric vehicle charging point. No smoking throughout.

Groups looking for a complete rural retreat—whether a family gathering, friends' weekend or corporate event—will find the scale here suits parties that need genuine separation into smaller zones. Matlock itself is close enough for shops and restaurants; the surrounding countryside offers walking and access to the Dales.

Good venue for large gatherings. We had family get together, 16 adults and 3 kids. Property is a bit tired and some basic items missing even though we new we were self catering. Very remote so beware.

Went on a stag do to the stables. Lovely 4 poster beds. Rooms are a little dated however the bathrooms/toilets were perfect! Very modern. Great for groups and events. Kitchen and communal areas were a great size & loved the fire pit! What a great weekend!

Very poorly maintained and the cottage is not worth for the price we paid off. Disappointed and wouldn’t recommend to anyone at all. My mates reported the issues to the management but so far no response!

We stayed in 'The Stables at Riber Hall' Last Bank Holiday. Location is Nice and Calm.. But the property is not good at all.. it was in desperate need of a deep clean * The rooms are very dusty (even they dont keep vacume cleaner in that property and got sick every morning due to dusty of air in the room. * Rooms are attractive for the photography, not for reality for living even for short stay * Again Kitchen was very dusty/Sticky..also plates and glass are very smelly (we spend lots of money for disposable cutlery ) * Their are no WiFi coverages in the bedroom areas (but good signal in the dining area) * No indoor access to the kitchen & dining area from bedrooms * Garden is not suitable for kids I wouldn’t recommend this :(
