Combs Valley Campsite (Certificated Site)

First stay at this campsite. We booked a hard standing caravan pitch online and, in the run up to our stay, were moved to a different pitch twice. This was communicated well via email and wasn’t an issue, as we hadn’t requested a specific pitch number. A few days before arrival, we were sent self check-in instructions, which saved any faffing about at reception. Access to the hard standing pitches was easy, with a one-way system in and out. We were allocated pitch C9, which was spacious and level, and most of the other pitches looked level too. All facilities (toilets, showers, pot washing and Elsan point) were nearby and well maintained. There’s a grass area on the opposite side of the road where some families were camping in tents, and everyone was able to enjoy the stunning hill views. A train track runs behind the hard standing pitches, but the trains were infrequent and slow, so they didn’t really disturb the peace. The campsite as a whole was quiet and peaceful, and we’ll definitely be back. Hands down, one of the nicest sites we’ve stayed on. Cons: There was often a queue for the toilets, as there are only two in the ladies and one in the men’s. That’s probably the only area that could be improved.

We had a great weekend stay here in March and lucked out with some great weather. We stayed on the Exclusive Private Pitch and would highly recommend it if you want space to yourself away from others. The main part of the campsite was full and busy with a very noisy group. The private pitch gave distance from the busy area and was peaceful and relaxing. There is another camping area behind the private pitch so it can be overlooked by other campers. There is a railway line close behind the site, but we found it added interest and there was only one instance of a train horn being used. If you have a tent I think the early and late trains might be more noticeable and the service starts early and finishes late (~6am-11pm). The site is under a flight path to Manchester Airport, but again we didn’t think it was particularly noisy and we quite enjoyed using the Flight Radar app to see where the planes were coming in from. Chapel-en-le-Frith rail station is an easy 15 minute walk along a footpath from the campsite. Perfect for getting to Buxton or Manchester. Regular service and very convenient. We want to stay on the private pitch again in the near future, lovely views and plenty to enjoy. The rest of the site looked nice, but the private pitch is the kind of experience we really value.

What a fabulous site. The views over Combs Reservoir were glorious. England's green and pleasant land sprung to mind the minute we pitched up. The facilities were well thought out and spotlessly clean. My son said he had tge best shower ever! Welcoming owners live on site and were super friendly, happy to leave us to it or help if we asked. An ideal location being half way between charismaticaly quaint Chapel en le frith and wow, am I in a film, set Whalley Bridge. The Beehive Inn is your closest pub with a shop. Took me right back to being a child as our local pub housed the sweet shop! I was glad to see the famous Hanging Gate pub once again full of happy punters, which at Christmas, Easter and Halloween has every nook and cranny decorated to the hilt to satisfy any wondering and inner child! So if you want off grid camping you can absolutely have it with the peace of mind that you are not too far away from creature comforts. We live in Bramhall and wanted a close by camping experience. This site truly delivered and we are already planning our next visit. Thank You Combs Valley Camping. As I am a teacher I will give you a gold star and 10/10!

We had a wonderful stay here for our wedding in June - we arrived onsite on Thursday and stayed through til Monday alongside a great number of our guests. The campsite was absolutely perfect, and the 3 shepherds huts were great for a good nights rest. This really is a perfect location in the rolling hills of the peaks.
