About Best Western Plus Buxton Lee Wood Hotel
The Lee Wood Hotel began life in 1830 as three townhouses built for the Duke of Devonshire, and today operates as a Best Western Plus hotel while keeping much of its Georgian character intact. It sits on a quiet road called The Park, a short walk from Pavilion Gardens and the town centre.
The hotel has an award-winning restaurant serving modern British food, a bar, and a fitness suite, and its rooms combine period proportions with updated bathrooms and furnishings. As Buxton's only 4-star hotel it draws a mix of leisure guests and business travellers visiting the town.
It suits couples wanting a quieter, more residential setting than the town-centre hotels while remaining within easy walking distance of the Opera House, The Crescent and the shops on Spring Gardens.

What guests say
We had a super overnight stay at the BW Plus Buxton Lee Wood. If I could single out one thing that made our time special it was the staff at the hotel. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and friendly whilst being consummately professional. We are grateful that they were able to provide a fan for our room-a real boon in the current heatwave. Other points would include the cleanliness of the rooms and the public areas. Absolutely first class! The food is also very good and reasonably priced. The location is perfect for attending the Opera in Buxton-less than 10 minutes on foot. We are already planning a return!

My wife and I stayed here as a treat for her upcoming birthday, and we were really impressed. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Buxton and close to everything you’d want. Parking was free with plenty of space, which made arriving stress‑free. Check‑in was very friendly, and every member of staff we met during our stay was cheerful and welcoming. It genuinely felt like they enjoyed working there and looking after guests. Our room (12) was spotlessly clean, modern, spacious and comfortable, with a great view. The shower was one of the best I’ve used in a hotel—powerful, clean and in a really well‑designed bathroom. The room also had a large TV, coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer and ironing board, which was everything we needed. We’d originally planned to have breakfast elsewhere, but the stay had been so good that we changed our minds and ate at the hotel instead. The lady working in the restaurant was lovely—friendly, efficient and on top of everything. The two full English breakfasts were excellent, and there was a great selection of yogurt, cereal, fruit and pastries to enjoy while waiting. Overall, the hotel is fantastic, and the staff make a real difference. Their attitude and care stand out. We’re already thinking about coming back in July for our wedding anniversary. Jason & Vicky

A beautiful hotel in the town of Buxton. We didn’t stay here but visited for dinner and what a beautiful setting it was! Sat in the dining room with large glass windows overlooking the rolling hills. The service was fantastic and food was exceptional. Great variety of choice on the menu and very reasonably priced for a top hotel, we were really impressed. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Enjoyable first stay at a Best Western. Welcoming clean hotel, twin rooms a decent size and they let our group have rooms next to each other which was appreciated. You can easily walk into Buxton. Breakfast was very good quality and was our first chance to try delicious Derbyshire oatcakes. Limited parking but lots of space on a road at the front of the hotel.
