About Summerhill Farm Campsite
Tucked into the rolling Devon countryside near Ashburton, Summerhill Farm is a relaxed, back-to-basics site where campfires crackle under the stars and dogs are welcomed as enthusiastically as their owners. Electric hook-ups keep things practical, while showers and drinking water cover the essentials—though there's no chemical disposal, so tourers should plan accordingly.
Families appreciate the easygoing atmosphere and open space for kids to roam. It's the kind of place that feels genuinely rural without being remote, making it a solid base for exploring Dartmoor's tors and Ashburton's independent shops. Some might find the facilities fairly simple, but that's part of the charm if you're after a proper outdoors feel rather than glamping bells and whistles.

What visitors say
Highly recommended, My favourite place on Dartmoor 😊 A warm welcome awaits at the family run campsite. Kids and dogs are welcome, all the usual facilities at a reasonable price. Excellent views, quiet time between 10pm and 9am, lovely walks from the gate, right on the edge of dartmoor and next to the beautiful town of Ashburton

What I saw was ok, not spectacular not bad. I was with a group that just wanted a place to gather around the camp fire at night and explore Devon during the day. We didn't need shops on site or restaurants. Showers were ok as were the toilets. Yes I would go back because we got what we wanted.

This place is 5 minutes down the B3552, just off the Devon expressway at Ashbourton. Easy to find. It's situated close to the local garage/shop and very close to the River dart Country Park. Just a kittle further down the road is the carpark for Spitchwick Common. A lovely spot on the river Dart. The campsite is quite large and the camping fields are meadow natural. It's really nice to settle in, surrounded by meadow grass knee high and common flowers everywhere. The access is controlled remotely. Your phone is registered to a gate number you are given to phone. Very simple and comforting to know security is good. Booking was easy enough. Lyn, the owner, was very helpful and patient with us and her constant contact was brilliant. When we arrived, cash or card payment was taken and we were free to camp anywhere other than the electric pitches. The shower, toilets and washing rooms are all located at the end of the field and seemed to be serviced well. The showers were perfectly hot and had enough room to shower properly. The button didn't last long enough, but it's a very minor gripe. It's very quiet and picturesque here. Dog friendly and campers welcome. There isn't any play area for kids, but it's not a surprise as it's so chill here. At £10 per person per night, it's a bargain.
