What visitors say
We had the most incredible time during the otter experience. If you love otters, don't hesitate to book it - it's worth every penny. It was amazing to see the different species, and you can tell they are well cared for and genuinely loved by the staff. The highlight is definitely the final part of the experience. After watching the otters from outside their enclosures, you get the chance to go inside, feed them, and simply enjoy watching their playful personalities up close. It was a truly special experience and well worth the wait. Even if you don't book the otter experience, you can still watch the scheduled feeding sessions. The butterfly house was also beautiful, so make sure you take some time to enjoy it as well. I would happily visit again. Highly recommend making a trip here!

An Absolutely Amazing 4 Hours – A Must Visit! My wife and I had the most incredible time at Dartmoor Otter and Buckfastleigh Butterflies! We spent a full four hours there and loved every single second of the experience. We did the full tour, learning all about these amazing creatures, and even got to help prepare and feed the otters their breakfast. While every single otter there was heart meltingly cute, the absolute star of the show was Halloumi, the little Asian small clawed otter completely stole our hearts! The butterfly walkthrough house was also unbelievably beautiful. It is very warm inside, which makes sense, since they share their space with some lovely little terrapins who need that heat, but walking among so many gorgeous butterflies was magical. A huge thank you to Jess for the amazing tour, all the knowledge you shared, and the wonderful time we spent together. And thank you to Rachel for giving us such a heartwarming welcome the moment we arrived. You guys are fantastic, keep doing your thing! It is working wonderfully and we can't recommend this place enough!

Booked and completed an Otter experience and what an amazing morning. Value for money and an amazing interaction for an otter enthusiast. The work they do here is amazing and all staff are all so knowledgeable. It was fascinating to know how many types of otter there are and what are the more common species to see in the UK and further afield. They all have names and was fun learning about them and their qualities. If you are looking something to do come rain or shine this place is worth a visit. Spend as long as you like there. Easily wheelchair accessible and there is also an attached butterfly house which is also fascinating! Highly recommended this place and their experience. They have a little gift shop too which their is an artist that sells bronze statues in there and if you can splurge they are worth it :)

An outstanding day out! My partner and I did the feeding experience and it was worth every penny. Isabel’s passion was infectious and inspiring - she is a genuine asset to her employers. Lilly’s love and care was heartwarming. All the staff were deeply professional and immensely caring. We will absolutely be back soon - I’ve not seen my partner this happy in weeks. We have learnt so much. Thank you so much for bringing us both so much joy!
