Croft Castle and Parkland

A pleasant but fairly quick National Trust visit with a charming house, church, and surrounding parkland. The house itself doesn’t take long to see - around 20–30 minutes - but it’s well presented, with informative signs and some interesting objects. The interiors are largely Georgian, and there’s a short introductory video which gives helpful context. Upstairs is limited to one main room and hallway, so the visit is quite compact. Outside, there’s a small church next door and some nice grounds for a short stroll. The wider estate is extensive if you want a longer walk, though the immediate gardens are fairly brief. Cafe: Limited lunch options when we visited, but a nice stop for a scone and tea with indoor and outdoor seating. Toilets: Adequate facilities near the tea room. Parking: Large car park with plenty of space. Not the most extensive National Trust property, but an enjoyable and easy visit if you’re nearby.

Great walled garden, yhe highlight of our visit. Castle is sort of interesting but , as is the style, lots of heavy dark walls and furniture. Some people love it, others not so much. Good car park, lovely staff in the cafe ( bacon baps delicious!). Walks are very pretty but signage pretty useless....we got very lost. But all in all a lovely day and would visit again just for the walled garden...oh, and the little church is very pretty too.

We enjoyed a short but very enjoyable walk following the Fishpool Dingle walk. So peaceful and the woodland is an adventure in waiting. We didn’t visit the Castle this time but will be sure to give extra time on the next visit. The walled garden is impressive in size and the many features within it, from Vineyard to lily pond and orchard to rose beds. There’s even the entrance to a house - quite magical. It’s worth the trip.

What a cheeky find loads of parking and plenty of walks. We went as national trust members and a nice little place it was too. Loads of parking, loads of countryside to walk in cafe bookshop of course. It had a church which was good to look round and the family was interesting. It was a small ish house but qutie worth the vist.
