Barters Cottage

Photo: Suzanna Bayley

Barters Cottage is a traditional stone building set in a large lawned garden, part of a pair of properties in the countryside roughly a mile from the coast. The cottage holds two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a single bathroom with shower. A woodburning stove warms the living room, which has a TV and CD player. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking: electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. A washer dryer handles laundry. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included; the first load of fuel for the fire comes with the booking.

Outside, there's an enclosed garden with patio seating and a barbecue, plus parking for one car on site. The location puts you within walking distance of North Chideock village (¾ mile), where you'll find a shop and pubs. Lyme Regis, famous for fossil hunting and set around a working harbour, lies 10 miles away. The Jurassic Coast bus runs through the nearby village, making it easy to explore without driving. A farm shop close by offers views across National Trust land to Golden Cap, the highest point on England's south coast. Country and coastal walks start from the door. The whole property is yours alone, and one well-behaved pet stays free. No smoking indoors.

Charming peaceful cottage about half a mile outside the village. Well kept garden, open fire and all mod cons. The bed is comfy and we slept well to the hoots of owls . Our dog was happy here too.
