West Dorset's Marshwood Vale is prime territory for families wanting the coast within reach but countryside peace on arrival. Purcombe Farmhouse sits on a working farm two and a half miles from the Jurassic Coast, positioning you between Lyme Regis and West Bay. The farmhouse itself is built to accommodate larger groups—two or three families typically—across six bedrooms split over three floors. Upstairs you'll find a king bed and four rooms with single beds, plus an en-suite and separate shower room; downstairs, the master bedroom has its own shower room attached.
The ground floor is geared for living space rather than cramped kitchen corners. There are two living areas, each with a woodburner, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped to cook proper meals. A utility room with washing and drying machines means you can actually manage laundry without thinking about it. Throughout, bed linen and towels are provided, as is the wifi and heating.
Outside, the enclosed garden has a patio, lawn furniture and a barbecue, plus a private hot tub for five people. There's a bike store and parking for multiple cars, and an electric vehicle charging point if you need it. The garden does have seven steps. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. Smoking is not permitted indoors. The stretch of coast here offers fossil hunting, coastal walks up to Golden Cap, or seaside towns like Charmouth and Abbotsbury within a short drive.

A beautiful sunflower field. They have a trail in the shape of a dragonfly which was a gorgeous walk. You could even pick your own sunflowers for a little bit of money. We had a lovely time here.

We went for the sunflowers trail, wasnt really worth the money to be honest, kids were bored in 10 mins and took 20 mins to walk. No activities for kids or farm machinery to look at, deffo not disabled friendly and the drive through farm tracks to get there was low and rough in places. Doesnt look like a very good place to stay either if they were a b&b
