About The Empress Hotel
Douglas's Central Promenade curves along the bay, and it's here that The Empress Hotel takes its place among the seafront's period frontages, with Douglas Golf Club nearby for those wanting a round during their stay. The hotel offers a relaxed, unfussy base rather than anything showy, with 104 rooms and suites, many looking out over the bay.
Downstairs there's a modern restaurant and a lounge bar, along with breakfast service, and guests have use of a gym, spa and sauna. Free WiFi runs throughout, drinks can be brought to rooms, and there's a lift for easier access to upper floors. The hotel also handles weddings and business functions, and offers childcare, making it flexible for different types of stay.
Practical extras include free on-site parking, luggage storage and a garden, and pets are welcome. Set directly on the promenade, it puts the seafront and the golf club within easy reach without needing a car.

What guests say
Positives Location location location. Less than 5 min drive from sea terminal. Disabled parking bays almost outside of hotel and ample parking spaces facing hotel on promenade. Disabled access entrance too. Promenade is easy and flat to walk to the electric railway which takes you to some lovely tourist parts of the island. Loved the live piano player at night, nice to relax with some beautiful tunes. Dinner at hotel was really good vsaue for money and has 2 places you can eat, one fancier than the other but are reasonably priced and good value for money. Breakfast has absolutely everything you could want and if you wanted boiled eggs, fish, porridge, poached eggs they would make them fresh for you, very accommodating. The staff are all very helpful, polite and charming from reception, bar staff, breakfast staff and housekeeping all very approachable. Negatives No air con in the rooms, the lift takes an age to arrive and if coach parties arrive with luggage it blocks the whole hotel reception to get to the lift and makes the stairs very busy which is not ideal. There is no rooms for three people that looks onto the front promenade which was disappointing, no view. All in all the hotel is amazing and would highly recommend 👌

Spent 4 days there recently, visiting my brother. Single very spacious room, large bathroom everything I needed for my stay. Hotel very clean, staff very friendly. Short walk along the esplanade, but get a taxi if wet. Only had 1 evening meal there, because i was visiting my brother, but the food was excellent, and good value for money. Breakfast relaxed and plenty of choice. Will be going again later this year

Lovely hotel. Just what one needs in a hotel. Have been twice, will go again. Welcome reception, nice restaurant and bar. Rooms have everything. Good choice of breakfast including Manx Kippers. A bit of posh when you want it.

Spotlessly clean. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfasts really good and a wide choice of evening food. Location great for access to all the Island. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
