Dumfries and Galloway

This detached farmhouse stands in open countryside near Newton Stewart, a proper rural base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway. The building has character in its bones – two sitting rooms with open fires, a practical kitchen with electric range, and five bedrooms spread across two floors. One bedroom has an en-suite; the other bathrooms include a bath with shower and separate shower room. The house sleeps up to 12 and is yours alone; it comes with electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi all included, plus fuel for the fires to get you started.
Outside, there's a private hot tub for six, a sauna, lawned garden with furniture, pool table under cover, and parking for four cars. The coast lies two miles away – rugged clifftops, sandy beaches and small ports like Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn. Inland, Galloway Forest Park has mountain biking and walking trails, plus one of the UK's first Dark Skies Parks. The RSPB Mull of Galloway reserve brings sea birds in spring and summer. Fishing, golf and botanical gardens are all nearby. One dog is welcome; smoking is not. A village shop and pub are close by, with Stranraer a short drive for wider facilities.

It was nice, but we were the first in after covid and it wasn't that bad, but there were a few spots. If you don't like bats then that area is probably not for you😆😆😆 Overall lovely, hot tub was nice, lovely river for fishing, would go again👍👍👍

Just back from an outstanding weekend staying in Airyhemming Farmhouse. We travelled as a family of 10. Honestly can’t fault a single thing. Plenty of living area, spacious and comfortable bedrooms with plenty of kitchen space should you need to use it. The hot tub was about 20 yards from the house in a separate covered area. No more wet children constantly running in and out of the house!!! There are plenty of shops and restaurants less than 15 mins drive away so it’s not completely in the wilderness, but secluded enough for you to enjoy the peace and quiet. I’ll be returning early next year.

Just want to say we’re into our last day of our weeks holiday, visiting my mother who lives in Stranraer, the place and the setting is absolutely beautiful with lovely views down the valley and across the hills although the place sleeps eight, we booked it just for myself and my wife and the two dogs. love the idea of having a pool table and a hot tub for the evening which we used every day. Highly recommend.

We have just spent a wonderful family holiday here. The house is beautifully proportioned and the giant handmade kitchen table was a great focal point for meals. The welcome pack upon arrival didn't last long as the cake went down with a nice cup of tea ! It is quiet and peaceful and a great place to come to in order to relax. The views of the surrounding countryside are stunning. The Hot Tub was well used. The addition of the pool table came as a surprise and we loved making use of it. Before we left, we had already discussed how we would love to stay here again. The owner was so helpful and we will recommend this holiday retreat to friends and family now that we are back home.
