Machermore Cottage is a stone cottage on the southern Dumfries and Galloway coast, where open views stretch across farmland down to Luce Bay. The property sits on The Whithorn Way, a 143-mile mapped route for walkers and cyclists. It was renovated in 2021 and stands on its own grounds with lawned garden, sitting-out area and parking for three cars.
Inside, everything is on the ground floor. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge-freezer. The open-plan dining space and living room both face the bay; the living room has a large picture window. There are three bedrooms—one double and two singles—and a shower room. Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. A bike store is available for guests.
The location works well for exploring the wider area: Logan Botanic Garden, coastal walks, sandy beaches and the RSPB reserve at Scotland's southernmost point are all within reach. The landscape here is rugged and changeable, with the Gulf Stream bringing warmer weather than you might expect at this latitude. No smoking inside the cottage.
