Mountain Cross is a substantial detached house dating from an era when properties were built with space in mind. Set within an acre of sloping gardens in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it stands a short distance inland from the Solway coast, with sandy beaches just 3 miles away. The surrounding landscape offers scope for cycling, sailing, walking through woodland and forest, fishing, golf and riding; the artistic draw of Kirkcudbright and the food reputation of Castle Douglas are both within reach, as is Galloway Forest Park. A pub and shops are half a mile distant.
The property sleeps 6 across four bedrooms—a kingsize, a second kingsize, a double and a single—with two bathrooms between them. The main bedroom has an ensuite. Downstairs, the living room, dining room and kitchen are set up for daily life: there is an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave in the kitchen, and the living areas have a television. A utility room houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. Essentials including electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are covered in the rental. One pet stays free of charge.
The house does have narrow and steep stairs internally; there is a step at the entrance. The rear garden slopes noticeably. Guests checking in after 15:30 will find parking on site and an enclosed garden with a seating area. Smoking is not permitted.
