About Fishermans Tavern Hotel - Inn by Greene King Inns
Dundee's waterfront area is the backdrop for the Fishermans Tavern Hotel, a Greene King Inns property on Fort Street with a proper pub feel and views towards the river. It's a compact hotel with just 12 rooms, all en-suite, giving it the atmosphere of a traditional inn rather than a large-scale hotel.
Rooms come with free WiFi and drinks available in-room, and accessible rooms are on offer for those who need them. Downstairs there's a bar and restaurant serving breakfast and meals on-site, while free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.
The location suits those keen on getting out and about, with golf, fishing and watersports all nearby, plus a good spread of pubs, bars and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out. It's a solid base for exploring Dundee without the frills of a bigger hotel.
What guests say
Very clean room, amazing location. Stayed with family for one night. The staff was very friendly and the checkin and checkout process was very smooth. The hotel is centrally located right next to the sea. We checkedin late and had to leave early morning so could not try the food at the tavern below, but it was always full whenever we saw. Will definately try the food at the tavern next time we stay at the hotel.

Never on God's earth would I go back to the Fisherman's Tavern (Broughty Ferry). Reserved a table and tried so hard to order food. I wasn't particularly hungry but you can't have a side of chips on their own. Has to be ordered with a meal. So I ordered Steak Ciabatta with a side salad and an extra of triple cooked chips. Waitress came back said I couldn't have that as the Steak Ciabatta is classed as a side. Not on the menu it isn't, it's called s light bite. I could have a Steak Ciabatta on its own but not with chips. So I ordered a Steak Ciabatta on its own. A few minutes later the waitress came back and said it wouldn't be Ciabatta, it would be plain white bread. Probably the worst service I've ever known in a pub. Not recommended. Do you remember the Fawlty Towers episode with the Waldorf Salad? Well that could have been written in the Fisherman's Tavern. Edit - Photo just added - you can have a burger with chips but not a steak Ciabatta - the mind boggles. There's something about the hospitality industry that needs to be remembered here.

This hotel has very nicely appointed rooms, and is located in a great location in Dundee. We loved our rooms, and fantastic food below in the Tavern. Thanks Helen for your assistance - you were a big help checking-in and with dinner in the Tavern. I would highly recommend staying here if you ever get the chance.

If you’re searching for a hidden gem that perfectly blends seclusion with convenience, this is the place to stay. Nestled just off the beaten path, yet within easy walking distance to the heart of the village, this charming pub is everything you could dream of—and more. The moment we arrived, we were enveloped by an ambience that exceeded our expectations. This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an experience—a cozy, vibrant pub that exudes character and warmth. It’s exactly what anyone from the USA envisions when they think of a quintessential Scottish pub. From the outset, we were welcomed like old friends. Millie, with her infectious warmth, went above and beyond, effortlessly lugging our suitcases upstairs and ensuring we were equipped with all the information we needed for a perfect stay. After settling in, we couldn’t resist heading downstairs to soak in the atmosphere over a local beer and a glass of wine. Tom, ever the gracious host, even took it upon himself to expertly parallel park our rental car, a gesture that perfectly captures the level of care and service here. Inside, we were introduced to Jo, Tom’s incredible partner, whose warmth and hospitality made us feel instantly at home. She introduced us to a wonderful cast of characters—Craig, Derek, Jack, and many others—who all contributed to the unforgettable atmosphere of this magical place. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the true essence of an authentic pub experience, this is where you need to stay. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. This place is an absolute treasure.
