Quartermaster's is a self-contained apartment within the historic Brancepeth Castle, occupying what were once the castle kitchens during its time as a military hospital in World War I. Everything you need is provided: electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, along with a welcome pack on arrival. The single level layout makes it straightforward to use, and there's parking for two cars on site.

The apartment contains two bedrooms—one with a double bed, one with a single—each with its own en-suite or shower room, plus a combined living, dining and kitchen space. The kitchen is properly equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge. In the living area, a Smart TV offers access to streaming services, and there's a DVD player if you prefer. A disabled shower and toilet adjacent to the property are available for guests who need them.

Brancepeth Castle itself dates back to Saxon times, though the visible structure owes much to the Neville family's 14th-century ownership and later 18th-century remodelling by the Russells. You'll have access to parts of the castle grounds. Durham, a UNESCO city, is nearby. No smoking is permitted in the apartment.
