Durham's quieter side reveals itself in Baldersdale, a remote corner of the North Pennines where this converted chapel occupies its own peaceful patch. The single-storey building has kept its distinctive arched windows and commands views across open moorland. One bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with bath and shower occupy the ground floor alongside a combined living and dining space, with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and microwave among its kit. Everything needed for a stay is covered: heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi. An enclosed patio with garden furniture extends the living space outdoors, and there is parking for one car on site.
This part of the North Pennines draws walkers to its designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Way are within easy reach. Barnard Castle, six miles away, holds a Norman castle, the Bowes Museum and a full range of independent shops and restaurants. The area has gained attention for its dark skies and stargazing potential. Fishing, golf and riding are available locally, and a pub and café sit two miles off. The property does not allow smoking. One dog is welcome.
