The Stables sits within 14 acres of the Sid Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Devon. Sidmouth's coast is 3½ miles away; Sidbury village is nearby. The conversion itself is ground floor throughout, with ramp access, and opens onto a terrace where you can sit out over the grounds. One bedroom with zip-and-link bed (configurable as super-king or two singles), ensuite wet room, and an open-plan living space combining kitchen, dining and sitting areas.

The kitchen is equipped to cook proper meals. Electricity and heating are included, along with bed linen and towels. You have access to a shared laundry room. In summer, the heated outdoor swimming pool is available (shared with other properties on-site), along with a tennis court and changing facilities. The 14-acre grounds have patio seating and garden furniture. Smoking is not permitted. Children under 15 are not accommodated.

This location suits walkers—the Foxglove Way passes nearby, and there are local paths, cycling routes, fishing and horse riding all close at hand. Honiton's antique and lace market is 5 miles away. Exeter is 15 minutes' drive. Local shops and pubs are 1 mile away.

The owners, Stephen and Sarah are fantastic hosts in a beautiful building and setting. The meals are outstanding and cooked by Sarah and Stephen themselves. The bedrooms are wonderful and comfortable, and tastefully designed, and there is everything you need in them for a really good night's sleep. The quality of everything is excellent, including the warm and genuinely thoughtful welcome from Sarah and Stephen personally. They love their home and want their guests to love it, too - and the do!

We had the most amazing 4 x night stay at this hotel. We booked the self catering cottage’s which were so lovely full of everything you needed super clean beautiful crisp white Bed linen & fluffy white towels. L’occitane toiletries in the bathrooms. Steve & Sarah were the most gorgeous hosts, nothing was too much trouble. They opened the pool & sorted sun loungers for us as we had some fabulous sunshine during our stay. The pool was warm & super clean. We took our whippet with us who really enjoyed playing with Max & Benson the hosts blacks labs who were super lovely. The location was perfect for us great walking & a short drive to Sidmouth & other beaches. Highly recommend this wonderful place to stay.

First things first, we got 2 flat tyres on the way to the hotel thanks to a delightful Devon lane ( Not the one going to the hotel I hasten to add) but on phoning Stephen and Sarah to say we would be late their immediate response was "we will come and get you". No ifs or buts, just without thought Sarah came out and picked up my partner and our dog. Now that is seriously caring for your customers! The hotel itself is situated in an idyllic location with beautiful grounds and acres of space to walk your dog. We stayed in the Stable self catering room with beautiful views over the valley. It was clean and comfortable with a lovely heated floor bathroom and gorgeous shower. We eat twice in the hotel and the food was amazing and plenty of it. The hospitality of Stephen and Sarah is second to none and nothing is too much trouble, even to the point that Stephen drove me to get my car when the tyres had been replaced. All in all a wonderful few days away and wish we had booked for a few days more. Thank you folks for everything, we will return.

The Sid Valley Country House Hotel is an incredibly special place to stay. We had the warmest of welcomes from Sarah, Steve, and Benson. Nothing was too much trouble, and the attention to detail in the accommodation was fantastic. This is a perfect place for nature lovers, and bird watchers to come and stay. The views are stunning, beds are comfortable, and self catering lodges are spacious and well designed. Highly recommended, cant wait to come back.
