Whinlands

Whinlands is a detached cottage in Thorpeness village, 400 yards from the beach. The property sleeps eight across four bedrooms: one double with ensuite bathroom on the first floor, two further doubles (one a sofa bed in the living room), and two rooms with single beds. There is also a separate ground-floor toilet. A single bathroom with bath and shower serves the upstairs bedrooms. The kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob for proper cooking; a utility room contains a washer-dryer. Two living spaces mean different groups can spread out, and an enclosed garden with patio and barbecue provides outdoor space. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; one dog stays without extra charge.

Shops, a pub and restaurant are 50 yards away. Aldeburgh lies two miles off, with galleries, museums and food worth the short drive. Southwold beach is further but popular for swimming and crabbing. The Suffolk coast and countryside attract birdwatchers to RSPB Minsmere and walkers to Dunwich Woods, both within ten miles. Thorpeness itself is known for its boating lake and mini golf. The cottage does not permit smoking. Note that the stairs are steep and narrow in places.
