Tucked beside the River Eden on a working family farm, River Field is gloriously off-grid camping at its simplest. Pitch your tent anywhere across 20 acres of unstructured meadow, share the converted horsebox loos, and settle into proper back-to-basics mode. Deer, foxes, red kites and even otters frequent the riverbanks, while buzzards circle overhead – wildlife-watchers will be in their element.
A five-minute stroll brings you to Chiddingstone, a picture-postcard village with a 16th-century high street, a welcoming pub and a tea room. Footpaths lace the surrounding countryside, and grand houses like Penshurst Place sit within easy reach. The facilities are basic – there's no hot water and the site can feel a touch ramshackle in places – but if you're after solitude, scenery and a warm farm welcome (dogs included), River Field delivers.
Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks are all under twenty minutes by car for livelier days out.

I delivered fish food to them. Gate directions: 51.191275, 0.541799. The access is tight, but nothing like the narrow national roads in the UK. To unload, you have to line up at the farm entrance, in front of the gate along the road. There's a phone number at the parking garage to call someone who can unload. Unloading was quick and hassle-free. A very nice and friendly guy unloaded my cargo. Regards...
