About The Pheasant's Nest
In search of a cosy couple's stay in the Cambridgeshire countryside? Have a look at The Pheasant's Nest, a smart Bailey Unicorn Vigo Black Edition touring caravan parked in a quiet spot just outside the village of Witchford. There's just the one caravan here and it's set up for adults only (sorry, no kids or dogs), with its own private outdoor space to ensure plenty of peace and solitude for your break.
You'll often spot pheasants around the site, along with the retired sheep and hens that live here. The owners are around most of the time to help and offer local tips; they'll introduce you to their three friendly dogs too if you like. Inside, the caravan's been very nicely designed with a full island bed, well-equipped kitchen (four-ring hob, grill, oven, microwave, toaster and spacious fridge-freezer) and a bathroom with a large spacious shower. There's proper central heating, plenty of USB charging sockets, and a TV on request.
You'll be greeted with a welcome pack including coffee, tea, milk, butter, muesli, seasonal goodies and fresh eggs from the hens. The village has a shop, farm shop, takeaway and a well-loved pub serving excellent Sunday roasts and homemade chips in a warm, dog-friendly atmosphere with an open fire. Rural walks start from the site, and Ely, Cambridge and several National Trust properties make for good day trips.

Came here for a Sunday roast a few weeks back. We prebooked and arrived on time. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted a drink at the bar or at the table, we opted to have them at the table. I did ask for a Coke, unfortunately they only had Pepsi, so I had a lager top instead. There was a good selection of starters, mains and puddings available. We decided not to go for starters, but for mains and puddings. The mains arrived quite promptly, I went for the roast pork, which was more or less pork belly with roasted veg, gravy and a Yorkshire pudding. It also came with a side of greens. Overall, the roast was great, although I would've like to have seen more roast potatoes and parsnips on my plate. Another good thing would be to provide gravy for those who enjoy a bit extra, especially when the gravy was as good as it was! For pudding I went for the tart (I believe it was treacle) but that was nice too, possibly could've done with some sort of sauce or drizzle or something to accompany it and the ice cream, as well as to soften the base which was a little tough. All our service staff were top notch and couldn't fault them one bit! All were extremely well trained, well presented, and read our group very well. We'll definitely be returning in the future, but will probably ask for additional roasts and gravy next time. Thank you!

We popped in for a drink (no food, yet), myself, mum, dad and dog. A lovely warm welcome from staff. Very dog friendly. Drinks prices reasonable. We saw the fish and chips being served to another table and it looked loooovely so a must next time we go. The dog loved the free dog treats on the bar, the back garden and the field beyond that. He had a great run about. ( see attached video) So 4 stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️only because we didn't eat. Go check the place out 👍🏻

First time coming here and won’t be the last. We booked on the day and luckily they had a cancellation and squeezed us in. It was busy when we arrived and we were greeted with a warm welcome by Mike. We both went for the sirloin of beef for the Sunday lunch which was absolutely fantastic. I’ve tried a lot of the Sunday lunches in the area and this was hands down the best I’ve had. The beef was amazing and medium rare and all the trimmings were perfectly cooked. I especially liked the Kale which was a nice touch. Lovely pint of pride to wash it down with. The picture I took wasn’t that good as I’d already started , should have taken a better pic when it arrived as the presentation was great when it came. My bad. A big thanks to both Mike and Ellie who looked after us and made us feel welcome. Cannot wait to come back again soon. Thank you so much.

Popped in for a beer, first impressions very good, and a brilliant drive to get here (our focus for today being as its sunny). Might try a bit of food too. The guy behind the bar, friendly and welcoming. And dont forget to visit the windmill, just down the road!
