About Exmoor White Horse Inn
The Exmoor White Horse Inn sits beside the bridge over the River Exe in Exford, one of the two or three villages that can genuinely claim to be at the centre of the moor. The building is a sixteenth-century coaching inn, creeper covered and low beamed, and it has long been the social hub for riders, walkers and shooting parties working the surrounding hills.
Bedrooms are en suite and traditional in style, with tea and coffee facilities and televisions, spread through the original inn and adjoining wings. Some are compact, as is normal in buildings of this age, but they are warm and comfortable and several look out over the river.
The bar is the real draw, with a wood burner, local ales and a collection of more than two hundred malt whiskies. The restaurant leans firmly local, with Exmoor trout, game birds, rare breed beef and a traditional carvery on Sundays, plus an extensive bar menu served through the day. The inn can arrange riding, fishing, shooting and mountain biking, and footpaths leave from the village green towards Dunkery Beacon and along the Exe valley. It is an easy, unpretentious base for a walking or riding holiday.

Rustic pub. Plenty of seating, both outdoor and indoor. Menu is quite big; a variety of dishes to suit everyone. Pub is dog friendly. There is free car parking for customers. Toilets are okayish- does need a bit of a clean- hope management can sort that.

Dropped in for a breakfast on our way through town. The service we received from Vince was amazing, we were very well looked after with coffee topped up and our dietary requests happily catered to. A great experience in a quaint location with proper old-school hospitality

We ate here as a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. Welcome wasn't great. Not a simple hello or welcome. Just a barman staring a bit at us. We sat down at the table and the barman asking us "are you okay". Overall not a friendly welcome. However, 1 thing that I find really disturbing was when we were ordering at the bar. The barman was asking us all the options like "you want it with chips or veggies, ice or no ice, etc.". But when we ordered 2 apple juice, I saw the barman taking a bottle of apple juice which had barely enough to fill 1 glass. Without any temptation the barman just divided the amount in 2 glasses and just straight up filled it up with ice without even asking us just to make the glass look full. I noticed this and was quickly enough to tell him I don't want ice in it. He quickly poured some from the ice glass to the other. Then he just gave me a half full glass of apple juice. Not even bothered to fill it up. This behavior as a barman is just disgusting and you are essentially ripping off your customers. He clearly knew what he was doing by avoiding asking us if we want it with or without ice. Just get a new bottle and fill it up properly. Not forgetting the prices are already on the high side. I normally dont give 1 stars but this type of behavior completely sets us off. Also food was ok'ish

Popped in for a break on the way to Ilfracoombe. Well worth the stop, cider was very pleasant and refreshing considering the warmth of the day, and decided while here it would be rude not to indulge in Scones and a pot of tea. We checked on the correct local method to consume, the waiter confirmed Cream then Jam on top. Very nice. Nice clean garden with shaded tables. Provided a lovely break on the way to our cottage we’re staying at in West Down. Found an hotel nasty box with eggs aswell so sorted for brekky!!
