Renovated for 2025! Open again for a month now, the changing area is completely modernized into clean, well-situated changing rooms, suitable for singles, couples, or families. The staff was friendly, and the pool was clean and well-organized with swimming lanes for various speeds/ abilities. There was also a swimming lesson going on for youngsters. A great experience for visiting Canadians!

Enforce rules as you please seems to be the guiding philosophy here. Courts are rarely ready on time, even when they’ve been sitting empty for the previous hour. On some visits, you’re told to move for others; on other visits, you’re instructed to just play on “any free court”. You arrive to your booked court to find someone already playing on it, are told to use any available court instead, only to then be moved on again when the people that booked that court turn up. All that's missing is some music and you'd have a fully functional game of musical chairs with badminton courts instead of chairs. The latest stroke of genius is a strict four-person limit per court even if you’ve booked as a larger group for years. Naturally, you’d think the extra players could wait at the side, as they have done without issue for years. Not quite. In the name of “fire safety,” you're instead banished to line the hallway windows. If I wanted to watch something interesting through a large glass window, I'd have booked a visit to the aquarium. On the back of this, one would assume that fire safety is treated with utmost seriousness here. However, it’s hard not to feel like the fire safety excuse is playing you for a fool when you take a look around and see fire exits and fire alarms blocked around the hall. Clearly just a cash grab to strong-arm people into booking more courts; don't waste your time.

I’m honestly beyond fed up with the way things are being run at Bellahouston Sports Centre. My friends and I have been playing badminton here twice a week for the last three years. Never had an issue, never caused problems, always paid for our bookings. Now all of a sudden the staff are enforcing this completely made-up rule of “maximum four people per court.” Apparently it’s for “health and safety,” yet there is absolutely nothing in the online booking terms and conditions that mentions this rule. It has just appeared out of nowhere. What makes it even more ridiculous is that Aikido classes regularly take place in the same hall with 10–15 people participating at the same time. So somehow that’s perfectly fine, but five friends rotating in a badminton game is suddenly a safety issue? The explanation makes zero sense and just sounds like an excuse. And if they’re really so concerned about “health and safety,” maybe they should start by dealing with the fire exits that are regularly blocked by gym equipment. That’s an actual safety hazard, not the number of people standing around a badminton court. The staff are completely unhelpful as well. Any time you try to question this nonsense you just get shrugged off like they don’t care. No proper explanation, no attempt to resolve anything, just attitude. The organisation of the place is also terrible. A lot of the time when you arrive, the badminton courts aren’t even set up, meaning you can lose up to 10 minutes of the session you’ve paid for just standing around waiting for equipment to be brought out and put up. Why are customers paying for time that gets wasted because the staff can’t set the courts up in advance? And to make things even worse, they don’t even manage the court bookings properly. If you book court X for example, when you turn up you’re just told to “take any available court.” This obviously leads to confusion, people walking onto the same courts, and arguments between players because nobody actually knows which court belongs to who. It’s a complete shambles. After three years of being regular customers, it’s incredibly frustrating to see the place run this badly. Between made-up rules, poor organisation, blocked fire exits, unprepared courts, and staff who clearly don’t care, the whole experience has gone downhill massively. Honestly, it feels like the management here are just making things up as they go along. If this is how regular customers are treated, it’s no wonder people stop coming. Sort the place out.
