About Best Western The Grand Hotel Hartlepool

Best Western The Grand Hotel Hartlepool suits travellers who want a reliable, no-fuss stay close to the town centre, whether that's a work trip, a weekend away, or a stopover near the coast. The hotel sits on Swainson Street, within easy reach of Middleton Grange and the Marina, making it a practical choice for anyone wanting to explore Hartlepool on foot.

The 48 rooms are consistently described as clean, spacious and comfortable, with en-suite bathrooms and family rooms available for those travelling with children. There's a restaurant and bar on site, along with a snack bar, packed lunches for early starts, and outdoor seating in the garden or picnic area when the weather allows. Breakfast is served each morning, though it doesn't always match the standard of the rest of the stay. Staff are frequently praised for being friendly and helpful, which goes some way to making up for that.

Business services and meeting rooms make the hotel a sensible option for corporate visits, while golf, fishing, horse riding and walking areas nearby suit a more leisurely trip. Pubs, restaurants and entertainment are all within easy distance too. Parking is chargeable and found nearby rather than on site, so it's worth factoring into your plans, and pets are welcome for those not travelling alone.

Absolutely shocked at the state of the room. Couldn’t even find anyone in the morning to complain. I can honestly say it’s the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever slept in. My room had not been cleaned in a while. Dust on the tables, but the shocker was the bathroom. Lovely big present left in the toilet which had been stewing for some time. Pubes all over the shower. Really gross. Was there as overnight for work. But have advised our company not to use this hotel again.

The place is a little tired but you can see that when booking, don’t know what people expect. Single room was very clean, spacious with a high ceiling. Warm and quiet at night. Didn’t try breakfast as had to leave and the car park is a little small. Overall very good, I was on a work trip.

This place could be great!! It's a beautiful hotel and location is good. I didn't drive here thankfully because it seems leaving your car here isn't easy according to many I've heard from!! My stay has gone from bad to worse one a few locations, and I'm now done with the place. The feed back complaints goes unread or they haven't the bother to come back to you. Either way my stay are awful. From no hot water, to being above a boomtown (2nd floor). The breakfast is as cold as the hot water and don't expect poached eggs or fruit! It's the worst your find!! Beds are small, booking a standard double means a small double bed which is like a slightly oversized single bed but not room for a second person. - just glad i was alone!! The noise that can be heard all day amd all night is unbearable and crazy loud, from screaming to music and busses to emergency vehicles going by. This place is not quiet and you will get zero sleep!!! I qrite this at 00:30am because i cant sleep above the beat of the downstairs music, drunken screaming youth in the streets and just being annoyed i couldnt shower before bed. Im suposed to be here another night!! Guarantee i dont get refunded if i leave early.... but i cant bare anothe night of this!! It's such a shame because the building is beautiful!! Hower it needs a revamp given the heating is awful hence why your find a extra plug in mini radiator in each room. Defo time to book the Premier Inn next time!!!!!!!!!!! As for anything else like the bar, that was closed at 9pm on a sat night!! I guess the staffing it is too much!! Seriously , don't book here if your looking on where to stay!! It's cheaper than a Premier Inn but there is a good reason for that!!!!!!

So disappointing, our room was dirty, there was mould on the walls and it smelt of dust. Carpets were worn, it just looked tired and sad. No hot water, plus the toilet dripped all night. Breakfast was shocking, out of date yogurts, really limited selection. My recommendation would be to stay else where.
