Another great day out at the end of the central line Epping to North Weald. Great beer festival and street food. Beers ciders and gin. Even have route master basses to pick you up to and from the train station. If your were lucky enough to hear the acoustic guitar jammers you were in for a treat. Definitely go again.

I had a day free in London so decided to make a visit to the railway. Transport connections are excellent, they run heritage bus services from Epping Underground station to the railway which I enjoyed. I then got on a train to Ongar. There I met Malcolm, one of the staff who asked if I'd like some information about the railway and proceeded to tell me the history of the line for an hour until the next train. This made my day, I really enjoyed having my own guide . I then travelled to the other end of the line and back to North Weald before grabbing a drink and a sandwich and jumping back on the Bus to Epping. A small heritage railway and not many trains on display, but I loved the history and the rides. Well worth a visit

Just been to the Essex Ongar railway steam gala today and had an absolutely amazing footplate experience. The crew of the train Andy, Sam and David made my experience really first class. The whole day was fantastic as it always is on my numerous visits. The dedication and enthusiasm of all the volunteers and staff is phenomenal and leads to a really wonderful experience. I would highly recommend a visit to the Essex Ongar railway.

Great fun. You can experience the whole attractive railway by diesel, with some lovely views near Epping. Plus the all-day ticket includes steam train between North Weald and Ongar. In addition, the ticket includes vintage / classic bus. If you have a bus pass, the concession fare is cheaper and you can use the bus pass on the bus. Friendly, helpful volunteers. We plan to return.
