Twitchill Farm : Ash Cottage

Photo: Twitchill Farm Holiday Cottages

Hope Valley sits at the heart of the Peak District, surrounded by walking routes, cave systems and limestone villages. Castleton is close by, as are the caverns that draw visitors year-round. From Ash Cottage's elevated position on Twitchill Farm, the valley spreads out below—countryside and stone-built settlements in every direction, with enough to occupy walkers, cyclists and families for weeks.

The cottage spreads across three floors and sleeps 8. Ground floor: a sitting room with smart TV and garden access, plus a kitchen/dining space with electric cooking and two fridges. The first floor holds a double bedroom, twin room and family bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs: a double and single in the master room (which has its own shower room), and a single bedroom. Wifi, heating, linen and towels are provided. There's parking for three cars on site and a bike store for exploring the surrounding hills.

The real draw is the private heated indoor pool—8.5m by 4m, available during daylight hours. The farm also has a sauna and steam room. A shared garden with seating and barbecue sits behind the cottage. The property is no smoking throughout.

Perfect shepherds hut with everything we needed! Lovely hosts, perfect location for walks/run and the swimming pool and spa made the stay even better. We will be back!

Stayed as part of a big group. Had both cottages side by side. This was beneficial as you share the outdoor space. I wouldn't like going on holiday and sharing the outdoor space so bare that in mind. Kitchen is very small for the numbers of potential people but doable. Real need for more fridge space. Freezer is outside in a barn. Not ideal. Still... Had a grest time. Nice location. Hill is a hard walk after the pub 1km away. The pool is fantastic, slots are booked to be shared again with other guests.

Stunning location, and really liked the first impressions with the Welcome Pack and toiletries! We're here for a birthday trip, and enjoyed a BBQ with a view, unlike many we've seen in the UK before. The room is really well catered for, the bathroom immaculate and looks stunning too. The little Tuck Shop was a quaint and unexpected suprise too, located behind the Shepherds Hut by the swimming pool. The only one thing we would say is the TV could do with an upgrade, as it's quite slow to react, but as we're unlikely to really use it that wasn't an issue. Thanks, and we'd definitely recommend and return!

Beautiful area, stunning reviews, lovely warm pool and all the facilities you could need. We had a great girls weekend here using both cottages. Thanks for having us, we will definitely be back soon.
