The Black Horse

Although we are local, we hadn’t been to the Black Horse for a long time. Tried it a couple of months ago and have been back twice since. Good food and drinks. They have a really good chef. Regular menu is good and they have special menus such as the Friday fish menu at £25 for two people. Great food and value. In our opinion the best food in Gt Miss at the moment. We also went to the comedy night a few weeks ago. Three stand up comedians and an MC for £15 a head. There were only about 20 in the audience which was a shame as it deserved more. Good night out. My only complaint is that it needs more people to get the atmosphere as it ought to be. Give it a go!

I don't know if it was because it was a group booking or if there's a separate menu to cater events, but the food was bland and undercooked. The dessert was nice, though. Service was very slow and seemed a bit unorganised (the performance was delayed as they were waiting for the food to be served but that did not happen as scheduled, and 2 staff members on 3 different occasions said they'd come back to take drink orders, and refill the bar snacks, but never did). The inside of the pub itself was nice and spacious, and clean, too.

Booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch, we had the roast beef & pork. Portions are fantastic and you more than get your moneys worth. It’s a cosy cute little pub, but don’t blink or you might miss it! Service was great, friendly polite staff. We will definitely be going back.

Wow - what fantastic food. The starter and main course we had today at lunchtime were exceptional, the best pub food I’ve had for a long long time. Sadly we live in Dorset so won’t be able to go back on a frequent basis.
