Balnain 1

The Brahan Estate straddles the River Conon in the heart of the Highlands, midway between Dingwall and Contin. For those interested in field sports, the river holds brown trout and salmon; the estate also offers clay pigeon shooting and stalking. Walkers will find trails through mature woodland and countryside, while Loch Ussie is within reach for further exploration. The estate itself carries historical weight as home to the Seaforths and the legendary Brahan Seer, a 17th-century figure whose prophecies allegedly foretold Culloden.

Balnain 1 is a two-bedroom cottage sleeping four, with an open fire in the main living space, electric cooking in the kitchen, and a shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs are a kingsize bedroom and a twin. The essentials—electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi—are included, as is the initial fuel for the fire. There is private parking for two cars and a shared garden with sitting-out area. The cottage is non-smoking.

The location suits couples, small families or friends wanting space to spread out, particularly those drawn to rural pursuits and the particular history of the Highlands. Beyond the estate, Dingwall and Contin offer shops and services within easy reach by car.
