Newtonmore sits in the heart of the Cairngorms, surrounded by mountains and ideal for walkers, birdwatchers and anyone seeking mountain air. Baltinna West is a timber-clad lodge sleeping two, set back from the village with mature beech and lime trees screening the enclosed front garden. The Monadhliath mountains rise behind; a roll-top bath upstairs lets you soak tired legs after days on the Wildcat Trail or tackling local peaks.
Downstairs is open plan: a modern kitchen flows into the living and dining space, where a wood burner anchors a Chesterfield settee. Upstairs, the bedroom holds a kingsize bed with reading lights and USB sockets, plus a shower room with heated towel rail. A separate toilet sits downstairs. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; the garden is enclosed and parking sits on site. One well-behaved pet stays free. The village shops, pubs and cafes are a two-minute walk away. River Spey fishing, golf courses, mountain biking, distillery tours and the RSPB visitor centre are all within reach, as are Aviemore and Inverness. Smoking is not permitted in the property.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful 6 days at Baltinna West. It is superb accommodation for a couple with a luxurious bath in the double bedroom with an additional en-suite shower room. The open plan downstairs area has a well equipped kitchen. It was an excellent base to enjoy the amazing Cairngorms National Park. The EV charging point was easy to use and reasonably priced. We hope to come back during the winter to experience the Cairngorms in a very different season. We enjoyed fantastic walking and swimming in lochs and rivers.

The perfect location for a stay in the highlands! Couldn't fault the place. Got really lucky with heavy snow and the place was absolutely beautiful. The property was very clean and well presented, the log fire was ideal at evenings after long walks in the snow on the Wildcat Trail. Would 100% recommend and hope to return!

Great place with everything you could need. Stayed for a long weekend early October. Although a short walk to the centre of Newtonmore it feels secluded with the wee drive and trees at the enterence. While I was there storm Amy arrived and knocked the power out most of Newtonmore including the property, the wood burner along with a huge supply to timber was great. Property was clean and well equipped. Lots of walks can be done from the property with numerous walk information leaflets provided. Hosts were easy to get in touch with and replied quickly, especially when looking for suggestions for a takeaway. Would suggest the wild cat trail and the folk museum

Stayed at Baltinna West for six nights and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rod and Dianne’s lovely cottage. They both welcomed me to the town and were very helpful when I had questions. Newtonmore in October was quiet, and I quite enjoyed my time walking the trails and hills.
