Lovely place to visit. It’s a massive site and a great opportunity to stretch your legs after a long drive. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole museum does an excellent job of making you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. There are many different sections and houses to explore, each showcasing how people lived and the tools, furnishings, and everyday items they used during that period. They also have a sweet shop in the middle of it, great unique sweets and very affordable too! The attention to detail is fantastic, and the setting itself is beautiful. It’s an interesting, educational, and enjoyable experience for all ages. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

What a lovely experience visiting this true gem of a place!! The staffs were very friendly and welcoming. Museum itself is free and they offer a guidebook for a very fair price which is quite handy and an opportunity to contribute towards the museum. All recreations are thoughtfully made with information easily accessible. All in all, a very enjoyable experience and yet another reason to admire Highlands and Cairngorms ❤️

If you enjoy social history the Highland Folk Museum is an absolute must see. Cars park for £3.00 with a request for a donation for entry. Excellent coffee in the cafe was a bonus... We spent over 4 hours wandering the extensive grounds & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves... An interesting & very informative day in a beautiful location...

Dear all, It is Absolutely fantastic museum and day for a family trip!!!! Thank you very much! Like we have traveled 100 ( and bit more ) years back!!! Everything was just great- location, staff, exhibits, performances, shop with sweets and, of course, we were amazing that most of houses were moved there from islands or other locations. We absolutely forgot about our time, you are fully back in times and even smells, old futniture, boxes of sweets, etc. were just exceptional. Special thanks to Catherine who played ( I would say she absolutely lived her part of Miss McLaren - school teacher) as she made us sit in her class, write properly, marked our writing and allowed us to enjoy activity outside. My daughter could ring the bell prior her class- we felt like we are in 1930, 1940s for sure! I suggest to go to this museum from around 10, 11.00 as class starts from 12.00 and you can enjoy museum before that. After that you can enjoy lunch ( there is a cafe or plenty of tables for your packed lunch, kids playground outside or you could enjoy nice walk in the forest where is more history. Bravo, everyone!!! 10 out of 10!!!! 👍
